Everything you need to know about the Caminito del Rey is listed below including all the best resources to make your trip a memorable one
Caminito del Rey tickets
Tickets for the King’s walk can be booked up to 3 months in advance usually. Tickets cost from €10 and for not much more you can include a guided tour, this is the best way to experience the walk.
Caminito del Rey parking
- North Entrance (Ardales): There is a designated parking area at the North Entrance of Caminito del Rey. The parking area is reasonably large and usually sufficient for visitors. However, during peak tourist season (spring and summer), it can fill up quickly. Arriving early in the day is recommended to secure a parking spot.
- South Entrance (El Chorro): The South Entrance has a smaller parking area compared to the North Entrance. Parking space here can also be limited, especially during busy times. Keep in mind the South is where you end the walk, not start it.
- Shuttle Services: Depending on the time of year and demand, there may be shuttle services available from nearby towns to the Caminito del Rey entrances. These can be a convenient option to avoid parking hassles.
Please note that parking availability and regulations can change, and it’s essential to check for the most up-to-date information before your visit. It’s also a good idea to make a reservation for your Caminito del Rey hike in advance, as the number of daily visitors is often limited to ensure safety.
I recommend checking the official Caminito del Rey website or contacting the relevant authorities or tourist information centers for the latest parking information and any updates that may have occurred since my last update in September 2023.
Caminito del Rey North Entrance
The North entrance is the starting point for the walk, the path is linear so the trail begins at the North and ends at the South point. Once you exit the walk at the South There is a bus which runs daily, every 30 minutes up until 7pm from between the North and South points. The cost is €2.50 per person and the driver will only accept cash.
Caminito del Rey deaths
There are no reported deaths since the restoration and re-opening of the walk, however there were several deaths during the period it was in dis-repair and closed.
